Then it should appear when you modify any setting. One concern ragrding running update script via sudo. Update instructions did not mention that...

Running OpenAuto Pro 5.0 tried on Pi 3 b+ and 4
with a Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Have encountered the volume control problem as noted in several post Volume slider is locked on minimum and the mute indicator is on on both the drop down and on the top bar Found this note in one of the post >> " Try to re-download and re-apply update package. Audio.MixerName has been added two days after 5.0 release and as it was really small change, we decided to update current image and update package rather than releasing new version. " << I have downloaded and reflashed with a new image obtained today ... No Joy! ... I then proceeded to follow the update instructions and re-applied the update .... still No Joy!... checking the .ini file I still have no mixer name. Can someone please provide the mixer name for /home/pi/.openauto/config/openauto_system.ini as well as any other locations and mods to sort this issue out. Thank you all for your help!

I understand you have a solution in a way now for most applications, however I still have an issue for my vehicle setup which is dependant on toslink SPDIF output.
I use a HifiBerry DIGI+ which technically has no hardware volume control. Is there a reason why pulseaudio sound server isn't installed in version 4 or 5? If I look under add/remove software within lxsession it shows PulseAudio sound server is not installed, neither is the bluetooth module for PulseAudio sound server. I found version 3.3.2 RC1 and backwards has it installed and as you know, 3.3.2 RC1 is Raspbian buster so has nothing to do with drivers for the hifiberry. This gives me full direct volume control of pulse audio. However has the pulseaudio sound server isnt installed on version 4.0 and 5.0, this "pulse audio" option isnt in ALSAmixer. amixer in version 3.3.2 RC1 reports: Simple mixer control 'Master',0 Capabilities: pvolume pswitch pswitch-joined Playback channels: Front Left - Front Right Limits: Playback 0 - 65536 Mono: Front Left: Playback 50448 [77%] [on] Front Right: Playback 50448 [77%] [on] Simple mixer control 'Capture',0 Capabilities: cvolume cvolume-joined cswitch cswitch-joined Capture channels: Mono Limits: Capture 0 - 65536 Mono: Capture 50198 [77%] [on] Now I presume you removed pulseaudio sound server from being installed to do with LADSPA being installed for the EQ feature in version 4.0 Soon as I install both of these in version 4 or 5, i have full volume control, bluetooth audio works perfectly however android auto does not connect as it stats (ERROR 7 - cannot connect to pulseaudio). Could you point me in the right direction? I personally dont need the EQ feature so I'm happy to modify the configuration to circumvent it.

Just sharing.
My volume slider was locked and muted again today. Checked amixer to find that I only had a mic and no Headphone or PCM chanel. Powered up and powered down to find things coming and going in amixer with changing names. Relocated USB Sound Blaster from USB hub to RASPI and repeated with stable PCM output. Have used USB hub in setup with RASPI 3 B+ without issue. This issue just cropped up with RASPI 4. Hope this helps someone!

I still have not managed to get the volume slider working in OAP. Though I think it has to do with something unique to my hardware or setup. I followed all directions. By running the latest update, I was able to successfully get the "MixerName" parameter added to the file. I am using a USB to SPDIF adapter, not an actual DAC. That shouldn't matter though, as soft volume still worked fine on previous versions.
Also, volume slider works fine in raspbian. When I run the "amixer" command, it looks identical to what @Digitalmick shows.
Modifying my ini file to "MixerName=Master" still does not solve the problem. I've also modified the .asoundrc file to what was shown earlier in this thread
Previously it was populated with different information. I also made sure my "/etc/asound.conf" file is empty. After making all of these changes, I can still adjust volume with my external volume knob via my car DSP, but I just can't adjust the soft volume. In all honesty it's not even that important, as I do all of my audio adjustments inside my DSP. I just need my pi to send a clean signal, so my DSP can do the work. Still, it would be interesting to see why I can't get this working. One other thing worth noting (which may be what caused all these problems in the first place) - when I originally flashed OAP 5.0, I was using a hifiberry digi+. I have since removed the hifiberry digi, as it seemed to be causing too many problems, and have switch to my hiface M20 USB to SPDIF adapter, plugged directly into my pi. I still don't understand how this is so hard for me to get working. |
