Mirroring does not re-connect - andyj - 06-29-2019

Sorry, I'm so close but I've got another one.

First time I boot my phone and my Pi, everything works fine.  OA fires up, I click on the 2 little arrows on the right, then gateway.  Everything works perfectly.  After that, if I try, I just get "Connecting" and nothing happens.  If I turn off my hotspot then it will go back to the main menu.  Otherwise, it just sits there and even pressing "Cancel" does nothing.  I then need to reboot the Pi and my phone for it to start working again.

This is on the Pixel 3a.

Cheers
Andy

Could you plese elaborate more what are you trying to achieve and how it is related to screen mirroring?

RE: Connecting... - andyj - 06-30-2019

Ok, this is what just happened...

Pi switched off
Phone in airplane mode
Booted Pi
Switched airplane mode off on phone (AA and Headunit still running from earlier)
Click icon to start mirroring
Click "Gateway"

Everything works fine.

Change DPI setting to see if that changes the issue with my buttons
Reboot Pi
Click icon to start mirroring
Click "Gateway"

Now just says "Connecting...
Click "Cancel"
Button reacts to touch but stays on connecting screen
Turn airplane mode on phone (effectively disconnecting the Pi)
Pi goes back to "USB...Wi-Fi...Gateway...Recents" screen

Try switching back to airplane mode, disabling hotspot, quitting AA, stopping headunit server

Still the same

Reboot phone

Mirroring starts again

I suspect a phone issue but can't think what (and that's my problem, not yours). It seems that either the phone needs to be rebooted or a certain amount of time has to pass to reset something before it will mirror again.

I've found a "solution" purely by chance. I don't know why this works but it does. When the Pi screen is stuck on "Connecting...", I unlocked my phone and tapped on "Play" on the notification card you get when you drag down from the top of the screen. BOOM! The Pi screen refreshes and mirroring is live and working again.
