Bluetooth Disconnects - EugeneJ - 01-06-2019

Bluetooth is connecting and will remain connected as long as I do not place or receive a call. If a call is originated or received audio will be normal on both ends of the conversation. During the conversation at no specific time Bluetooth connection will end. The audio from the speakers will end. Bluetooth will not connect from either the cellphone or the Pi after it disconnects. Phone still indicates Bluetooth Connected. Pi must be rebooted to recover from this.

My environment

Raspi 3 B +

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 Android 8.1.0

Android Auto 3.8.584564-release

OpenAuto Pro 3.0

Sound Blasster RTAudio

10” HDMI Touchscreen

All other functions of OpenAuto Pro are operating as expected.

Could you please try to test it with an external bluetooth dongle? The problem looks like compatibility issue between your phone and internal bluetooth adapter. Once you connect external bluetooth dongle, please execute sudo btswitch external command in order to activate it.

Thank you BlueWave! Big Grin

Just got back to check solution of external Bluetooth dongle. So far so good. The btswitch script works like a charm.

So I was having an issue with phone calls. I could hear the sound through the external sound card, but the mic was not working. I could use the speaker option or handset and they could hear me. The mic worked for the navigation and OK google. So for the life of me I couldn't figure it out. I just tried this cmd and what do you know it worked. I wanted to post this, as I didn't find much about the problem I was having.
Feel free to move this to a new topic as it doesn't really belong under this one.

What bluetooth adapter do you use (internal/external)?

It looks like your Bluetooth adapter is based on Broadcom's chip similar to the internal Raspberry PI chip. Could you please post the output of lsusb command?

Re: Bluetooth Disconnects - jennmike2 - 02-12-2019

I dont know if this was a miss understood comment I made, it is working after I figured out that, I not only needed to switch to the external but the cmd I had to use.

But this is the output anyway.
