Always on reverse camera - pedroc1999 - 09-13-2021 Is there any downside to have a reverse camera that is always powered (off of ignition)? By this, I mean will OAP have a memory leak or something of the sorts? I will be using a USB video grabber, and intend on not wiring a GPIO trigger pin, and instead just manually clicking the reverse camera button whenever required. RE: Always on reverse camera - Daniel_BlueWave - 09-13-2021 OPA will not leak memory However this could happen with grabber driver. On the other hand you have to consider battery drain. Battery drain is a non issue as my large buck converter only has power when the ignition is on RE: Always on reverse camera - wkl3968 - 09-14-2021 By the way, what is the most efficient way to use the car reverse camera system for OPA? Need a USB video grabber? any alternative or better solution? Need a USB video grabber? any alternative or better solution? AFAIK the official solution is to use a Pi camera. RE: Always on reverse camera - wkl3968 - 09-14-2021 The Pi Camera ribbon cable is too short for car and, also, the camera doesn't fit into the original backup camera location. I really wonder if there is a better alternative. RE: Always on reverse camera - Daniel_BlueWave - 09-14-2021 There are several alternative solutions with adapters or video grabbers. You can find them at forum. I really wonder if there is a better alternative. I agree, that's why I've used a usb grabber and a specific for my car RCA backup camera. (for the pi camera, people use camera-cable-hdmi-camera-able adapters) RE: Always on reverse camera - GSPW - 09-15-2021 (09-14-2021, 10:51 AM)wkl3968 Wrote: The Pi Camera ribbon cable is too short for car and, also, the camera doesn't fit into the original backup camera location.
