Connection to more than one phone - Theo100 - 08-27-2021

Hello, I'm new to OAP and been very happy with the features it has. But one thing isn't that clear for me.

I'm. Planning to install my OAP project in our family car. This car is used by me and my wife. We both have smartphones. When we are driving together I am normally driving. But there are also times when my wife is alone.

I tried to couple both of our phones with OAP, or better with the rpi4. That worked so far. But OAP is everytime connecting to the phone which is coupled as last. In OAP I didn't find a menu or so to chnge the BT connection to the phones. Is this possible? Or is this something which is planned for the future. So in my testing scenarios, sometimes it happened that OAP ist connected via BT to one phone, but Android Auto is running via USB from the other phone.

Were you able to find a solution to this?
I have OAP working fine with my phone, but would like to be able to add my wife's phone to it so it works when she's driving.

But haven't because I'm not sure how OAP handles multiple phones. It took forever to get mine working correctly, so don't want to mess anything up by adding hers.

I would also like a solution. Basically OAP needs a setup wizard for bluetooth connecting a new phone, and shouldn't rely on the user knowning how to pair the phone with the underlying raspbian. I think it's at this point in its maturity and deserves it.

It would be great to configure a 'dominate' phone too.
Meaning if both phones are in the car at the same time, the one that designated to be the dominate phone would be the one it connects too automatically and uses AA etc with.

OpenAuto Pro supports Bluetooth connection to only one phone at a time.

Please let us add in the feature request for the upcoming versions that it supports switching between phones (still one phone at a time)

+1 for this feature. Ideally this would support multiple phones and be able to detect strongest Bluetooth signal to determine which one to use, if they have a similar signal, then fall back into order of registration, or a manual priority.

I second that!
