Can't connect to AA - nathanw - 02-07-2021
Hey All,
I was able to connect to AA using my pixel 3 without issue. After upgrading to a pixel 5 I have no longer been able to connect to AA.
I've tried both usb and WiFi connections.
AA on my pixel shows the OpenAuto car and says I'm connected, but nothing on the pi.
I upgraded to the last OpenAuto the other day but that didn't help.
Also, I purchased the Connected Pro app but it won't connect either. It finds the bluetooth network and shows the connect button. Pressing connect it thinks for a millisecond and then shows connect again.
Any ideas?

1. Provide detailed description of your setup:
System requirements:
a. What is the version of your RPI? 3b
b. Power supply details. Buck converter
c. Model of external sound card. Generic ebay one, works fine
d. Do you have microphone input? Yes, pi picks it up but AA doesn't
e. Details of your Bluetooth dongle. Unsure, works well playing music. I made sure it has the correct chip when purchasing it.
f. Touchscreen model. Waveshare knockoff model c 7 inch
2. Android Auto:
a. Which version of Android Auto have you installed on your phone? 21 Jan 2021 update
b. Model of your phone. Pixel 5
Poedaniel - where do I find this?
I've noticed AA on my phone opens when open auto starts up. In the AA settings it says OpenAuto is available

Please re-flash your sd-card and reconnect all HW accessories.
Clean AA cache at your phone.
Let us know the results.

Reflashed SD - no luck.
Purchased RPi4, reflashed SD again, set it up.
AA is working perfectly. Not sure what the issue was there.
Connected Pro is also working as expected.
My touchscreen is mounted upside down due to space requirements so I have had to invert it.
The usual /boot/config.txt fix of display_rotate=2 or lcd_rotate=2 didn't work.
I had to use the RPi GUI to make this change.
This is only an issue on the RPi4, the config.txt fix worked on the 3.
One (not so much of an) issue is the OpenAuto Pro image on boot now is upside down. Everything else is the right way up. Just for looks, is there a way around this? Do I have to pull the image from the Pi, flip it in photoshop, and put it back on?
I'll use the appropriate forums for my other 2 issues.
