bafx obd2 bluetooth - psi3000 - 01-02-2021

I have tried a OBD link EX with no connectivity to open auto with the dashboards. I then tried a BAFX obd2 Bluetooth model with the settings displayed in the instructions of a device type of two and the Mac address of the BAFX scanner tool. neither one will connect. do I have to run the Bluetooth CTL function in terminal first and connect that way through the raspberry pi terminal first? all I did was follow the instructions on the form that were to input the device type and the Mac address. if anything other than this needs to be done it needs to be explained more thoroughly. or I'm having a real issue here and I'm very disappointed.

OBD-2 adapters based on ELM327 chip should work out of the box. Anything you need to do is to set Bluetooth address of your ELM327 adapter in openauto_system.ini or serial port descriptor in case of USB ELM327 device. More details can be found at https://www.bluewavestudio.io/community/showthread.php?tid=2045

Is your OBD-2 adapter based on ELM327 chip or does it provide compatiblity with ELM327 protocol?

RE: bafx obd2 bluetooth - psi3000 - 01-02-2021

I just did my research and bafx is not a genuine elm 327 adapter however it is a knockoff so it should work however the OBD link EX is a genuine elm 327 adapter and according to you should work flawlessly. I noticed one other person having an issue with a OBD link SX. I wonder what's going on with these.

RE: bafx obd2 bluetooth - BlueWave - 01-02-2021

We suggest to contact manufacturer of your ELM327 adapter. It might have some custom initialization sequence or might not support some ELM327 AT commands.

Did you pair with your ELM327 based device?

Also we checked available info about BAFX OBD-2 adapters and did not find any note about compatibility with ELM327.

"did you pair your elm327 base device? "
this was the OBD link EX I was speaking of and yes I tried it is USB and I tried with the settings in provided instructions. this does not work.
if you look in the Amazon link of the BAFX OBD2 scanner you will see a couple members mentioned that elm does work.

RE: bafx obd2 bluetooth - psi3000 - 01-04-2021

I have ordered the one that you suggest that you use in one thread:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083FML519/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
as well as another bluetooth elm327 one.
We will see how they do.
I am very anxious to get this working. thanks for the input.

RE: bafx obd2 bluetooth - psi3000 - 01-08-2021

okay I plugged it in and I still get the same exact issue with none of the gauges showing any thing. I even went into the gauge file and changed some of the PID numbers I'm not sure if you have to do this or not I just looked up the PID numbers for my vehicle and put them in still no change. I want to make sure I'm using the right ttyusb number in the config. when I use the command LSUSB I get bus 001 device 004 for my obd2 device. when I type LSUSB -t it's port 4 DEV4. I have tried ttyusb1 through ttyusb6, no difference.
looking at this website https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1418783-7-3l-pids-for-2016-torque-pro-and-others.html I used PID 1310 in the OBD gauges file as I believe the 22 in front we do not need. still no change in gauges. what am I missing?
how do I make sure that the device is recognized which way do you have the switch going on your device as mine is the same as the one suggested by blue Wave. can you share your config file? also do I have to set those PID files per my vehicle? as I've been trying to do? is there anything else I have to set?

You do not need to modify any config file. Please reproduce the issue and post the log file located at /home/pi/.openauto/cache/openauto.log

RE: bafx obd2 bluetooth - BlueWave - 01-09-2021

Looks like there is no logs related to the OBD. Please try to collect them once again and remember to not restart OpenAuto Pro application after you reproduce the issue. Please also post content of the /home/pi/.openauto/config/openauto_system.ini file.

Did you change ObdDeviceType parameter to 1 in OBD section of mentioned config file (https://www.bluewavestudio.io/community/showthread.php?tid=2042&pid=11931#pid11931)?
