Shorten start time - Rootinator - 06-14-2020

Hello Smile

Does anyone know how to shorten the startup process of "OpenAuto 8.0"?
Currently I use USB boot from an external SSD and the boot process takes about 27 seconds (previously with SD: 39 seconds).

I use a Raspberry 4b Smile

I've read that because of the EEPROM image being a Beta version the PI will still be polling for an SD card at startup. If this is true leaving an SD card in might cut down the booting time a bit. I can't vouch for this but at least it's a quick test!

It's strange that your SD card boot, was 39 seconds.
I have a 3b+ and boot from the SD takes about 25 seconds.

According to Youtuber leepsvideo, Official support for USB boot has moved to "stable" instead of "beta". Not that I know if it really changes anything as far as how it works or how long it takes to boot, but you don't have to be "beta" anymore.

I honestly don't think it's worth wasting an SSD on a Raspberry Pi OAP. Start-up times are negligible if any.
In addition, the OAP 9.0 version is so smooth and fluid that you can see the hard work that the developers had to optimize this version in order to work the way an RPi was made to work, with an SD card in mind.
