RPI 7inch Touchscreen - Frank - 10-01-2019

I am having a problem with the touchscreen.  It often fails to respond to my touches.  The problem appears to be more in the center than on the sides and more on the Pi desktop than in OAP.   When I wish to start a program, on the icon, I'll start with a normal touch - nothing.  Then a firmer TOUCH -- still nothing. Then a repetitive touch -- and instead of running the program, a prompt box appears asking me to change the name of the icon I've been pressing.

My research indicates that this screen cannot be adjusted for sensitivity.  So I guess I'm trying to find out if my experience is normal for this screen or do I have a bad screen?

Sounds like your screen has a problem. I have the official touchscreen and have for over a year and haven't experienced problems like that.

The same for us: thousand of hours with official touchscreen and no issues. Check connection cable maybe there is a problem.

definatly sounds like a defective screen, it should not be less responsive in some parts more than other parts of the screen, i have never had problems with the official screen, maybe change the two data wires for new ones, if that still does not work then get a new screen, if you have problems on the raspbian desktop too which has nothing to do with open auto then it has to be the screen that is the problem
