RPI 4 stays on - jennmike2 - 09-11-2019
I am just starting to mess with the BWS Car PS. I am bench testing this as of now.
My issue is when I disconnect the ignition, the PI does the shutdown, the led turns red after and the pi stays on along with the fan connected. I have to disconnect the PWR and reconnect the ignition and PWR for it to boot again. The PI doesn't boot with the ignition wire alone.
Am I missing something? I have been searching all over the forums, the only thing I can find that might be a help is a delay timer or relay.
I am wondering if this board is able to trigger the PI to boot. I don't mind that the PI has power as I don't think it will drain the battery. I was thinking of a toggle switch, this is my last resort.

We did not test it with RPI4 as it was not available. Also it was not designed to handle RPI4 power requirements which are higher than for RPI3.

Thanks for the response.
It was expected not to work with the PI4, due to the higher PWR needed. I did notice that when I connect the RPI 4 to the usb side of the BWS-PS, I don't get the lightening bolt. This could be the gauge of wire I'm using. Standered jumper wire for bread boards.

I also run the screen on a separate source. I didn't need that to be on, unless the key is on.
I will use what I have for now, connect up a toggle switch.
Maybe try the flash the 2nd link refers to. Not that good with this kind of thing, still learning, or wait for a installed fix. It took me 7 hrs to figure out how to run the 3 files I downloaded for the BWS-PS. Turns out I had to put them in a different folder to run.
I will now be putting this in a 2008 Mazda 3 instead of the Jeep pickup. I will plan to use a RPI3 and make another for that. This may be a while as it is not on the road as of now.
