Gave me the same errors two days ago and it was usb cables fault. I had two 90 degree extention cables and one was slightly damaged. Now all works as it should.

ya, I just ordered a new cable. Should be here tomorrow, hopefully that fixes it.
Does seem strange that both my cable went bad, but hopefully that is the cause

So just got my new cable, and it's doing the exact same thing.
What else could be causing this? I have my USB soundcard connected, and the USB mic is also hooked up and working. I took another picture, It's hard to see but in the OAP background it says in the upper left 'connected to Android Auto' But why is it not projecting on the screen?

Could you confirm those steps for collecting logs:
1. Turn on Pi and wait for OAP to be launched 2. Check setting if AA will start automatically after connection to RPi 3. Connect your phone with AA by USB cable 4. Disconnect phone and connect again (this can be done several times) 5. Do not turn off Rpi (!) 6. Download logs and send them to us

So I got it working finally.
First, I tried a different SD card and installed an older version of OAP. Hooked it up, still didn't work. So I uninstalled AA and then tried connecting the phone to the PI and try and connect, my phone prompted me to install AA. I did, and it then worked on the older version of OAP. I thought this meant it was fixed, so I loaded the other SD with the BETA version installed and gave it a try. Still just got 'connecting At this point, I decided to just wipe the SD and load the BETA again. Got it installed, still nothing! UGH!! I then tried the trick I tried with the prior version, uninstalled AA and hooked the phone to the PI. Hoping it would prompt to install, like it does on the older version of OAP. This doesn't seem to happen with the BETA, no prompt on the phone to install. Just a black 'connecting' screen on the PI I was about to give up, but tried the other SD card again with the older version. Got AA installed, and working on the PI again. Went back to the BETA SD card, hooked the phone up and this time for magical reason, AA is now working again!! I have no idea what was going on, or why it wasn't working before. I just hope it never happens again, as this was a pain having to pull everything out of the car again.

We did not receive any problem report similar to one that you described. Also there is no change in Android Auto at all in 3.3.2. It might be that some Android Auto updates messed up with proprietary Samsung Car mode - that might also explain no log entries about connection to Android Auto.

So took it for a drive for the first time, it worked until I need to stop and get gas.
When I shut the car off, everything was fine. When I started back up, and went to connect AA it got stuck 'Connecting'. Also the 'cancel' button that you see at this stage, does not seem to do anything. I tried disconnecting the USB and trying again, but this time it locked up the PI. I had to actually open the dash up and disconnect the power to get things to reset. This time, AA connected properly. Going to do more testing to see, the only difference that I can think of is. When it booted at the gas station, I had the phone already connected to the PI. I can't remember when I got home if I had plugged the phone in first or not. If as you say it's something wrong with both my Wife's and my Galaxy phones. What can we do to fix the issue permanently?

When I get in the car in the morning, everything works fine. There's a spot on my way to work where I lose mobile signal. At this point, the Pi goes back to the screen with the connection options. I click "Gateway" and get "Connecting" which won't go away. Tapping cancel does nothing. If I turn off my hotspot then the Pi goes back to the connections screen. I restart my hotspot and still just get "Connecting" again. The only way round it at that point is to reboot the phone or wait untll the following morning when it'll connect again.

ah maybe that's it. It has to do with mobile data.
I have Sprint which is terrible, and I do wonder if every time it's happened to me is when I've had data issues. I'll keep an eye on that the next time it happens to me.

The big questions are why does the "Cancel" button not work, and why when you get into a area of good signal will it not reconnect? It's almost like the phone thinks that the Pi is already connected and won't allow another connection until some time after when it resets. However, it's not the WiFi connection between the Pi and the phone as other functions carry on working. |
