Im just wondering, does the rpi actually fully shutdown before 5V relay cuts all the power? Becouse rpi usb out is powering that relay, and I know for the fact that rpi cuts usb power before it is shut down completely. I had to use delay relay that was powered separately from rpi.
Thanks!
I should have previously mentioned, as I do not want to take credit where credit is due. For shutdown, I am following this design:

I did find the original subreddit where I borrowed this design:

credit to thrill85, Fotchman, and Maju3. I implemented this set up before I had moved to OpenAuto.
I was not aware that the rpi cut power to usb before it was shut down completely. That might explain some wierdness in one of my scripts regarding the backlight.
I wish I could use something like a capacitor which would keep the 5v relay triggered for an extra few seconds... the few seconds it would take the rpi to finish shutting down? Otherwise it does look like a delay relay is in my future!
