Tested with following configuration:
- internal bluetooth disabled (I need the uart used by the internal bt).
- USB bluetooth
- usb mic.
- internal sound car enabled, hdmi used as sink.
- navit added in the list of apps.
- iPhone 7 paired for HFP and A2DP.

Feedback:
- A2DP with controls OK. It works if the pairing is done through a terminal with bluetoothctl. Doesn't work if module-echo-cancel not commented in default.pa.
- HFP partially, I can heard the correspondent but he can't heard me.
- No contacts synchronization.

Many thanks for your amazing work !

Hi,

Just a couple of observations on phone functionality from my quick testing with a Galaxy S6 and USB BT dongle:

- No contacts or call history shown.
- Crashes out of openauto and back to desktop on call hang-up.

Thanks,

Scott

using USB BT dongle with LG V30 and USB mode set to "local", USB mic:

contacts working
can make phone calls and can hear the other party talking, but other party cannot hear me

Should I be using "remote" USB option if using a USB BT dongle? Not sure what the issue is.

Just Flashed OA 3.0 Beta today and started testing. I can not get two way phone conversation to work no matter what I have done I can not make this work any suggestions greatly appreciated.

My bench
Raspberry Pi 3 B or B+
Internal Bluetooth disabled,
USB Bluetooth
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
USB Sound card with mic and line out .... 2 totally different brands used for testing.

System flashed to USB thumb drive.

Galaxy Note connected for
Call Audio
Media Audio
Contact Access

Telephone App performs the same as AA in that I can hear but called party can not hear my speech.
The onscreen keyboard would be better with inclusion of '#' and '*' keys.
I have all contacts and call history in Telephone or AA.
All player “A2DP” functions work without issue.

As suggested by fraisdos125 I have commented module-echo cancel from default.pa in pulse audio with no benefit.

Thank you for a great product
Thank you for the help.

Hello,
thank you all for your feedback. OpenAuto Pro is preconfigured to use internal Bluetooth adapter. In order to use external Bluetooth Adapter (e.g. USB dongle) please contact us at contact@bluewavestudio.io (please include your order ID). We will send you short and simple instruction how to enable support for external bluetooth adapters.

In case of missing contacts, please check whether permission to access contacts is granted on your Phone in Bluetooth settings. If no - grant the access and reconnect.

In order to use Bluetooth with Android Auto, you should select "Local" option in Settings -> Bluetooth.

Thanks for the bug report! We already prepared fix for that issue. It will be available in next release (really soon).

I confirm that the access to contacts is granted on my phone.
No contacts sync anyway.

Many thanks for your support.

Same for me as fraisdos125, contact sharing is enabled, but no sync.

Also, does anyone get the cover art coming through when streaming BT music over A2DP?

Thanks,

Scott

Did you try to reconnect after activation of contacts sharing? Contacts on your phone are stored in internal memory or SIM card? Phonebook profile supports only fetching contacts from internal phone storage.

Tested with iPhone:

HFP working good after following instructions for external USB BT dongle.
Contact sync doesn't work.
OpenAuto crashes after hang off the call.

No cover when listen to music through A2DP. First song OK without the name of it.
