Thank you for your feedback. It is really valuable.
Screen for entering the product code has built-in keyboard that you can navigate using "1" (Scroll left), "2" (Scroll right) and Enter buttons. There is no need to use VNC or Touchscreen to enter the product code. The same way you can navigate the disclaimer screen.
Overscan options from /boot/config.txt apply for entire screen and desktop environment. They also apply to the OpenAuto Pro UI. If you face an issue with the overscan, you can create a separate thread and we will try to find a solution for it together.
Unfortunately, this is how Android Auto works. At the Android Auto startup, OpenAuto Pro sends system capabilities to your Phone and it is up to it to make a decision whether projection will be started or not. There is no feedback to OpenAuto Pro about that. If AndroidAuto will detect a problem with system capabilities, phone displays a red screen with error message.
We would like to follow the path where Android Auto is an (fully integrated) addition to the OpenAuto Pro - not a core feature. In the future we want to release more features related to the car like OBD support (with efficient drive), Mirroring and many others that Android Auto does not include. We definitely do not want to limit functionality of OpenAuto Pro to just "dumb" launcher of Android Auto.

Thank you, I didn't notice that
You are correct the overscan also applies for the OpenAuto Pro UI. However, when Android Auto is connected (OMX layer?) the overscan from /boot/config.txt is ignored and the video margins from the settings are used (which can't be set separately for top, right, bottom and left, and can't be negative at the moment).
In my case the phone does not display a red screen. It shows Android Auto connected in the notification tray, but not the full screen Android Auto screen. I now see OpenAuto Pro does not show a black screen, it switches to the Android Auto menu item. When I click "Resume session" nothing happens. The log shows: [0x696ff310] [error] [OpenAuto] [RtAudioOutput] Failed to open audio output, what: RtApiPulse::probeDeviceOpen: error connecting output to PulseAudio server. This is not really an issue, since it is one of the system requirements. It would only be to make it more clear for new users.
Although an option for this would be great, it's ok. When I get the touchscreen working, I will probably use the other features too.
Would be great if this could be included, so I can use all features with the remote |
