Another "nice to have" I think would be visual volume-level indication. Volume adjustment works well using my SWC converted to key-presses, but I like being able to know how close to 0.0db I am.
could maybe be pulled off using omx layers so it could be a pop-up independent of OAP and AA.

I have mentioned something similar to this, I would live to see a volume indicator always present.
The current volume method, is clumsy and difficult to use when driving (trying to slide a sliderbar while driving). A better method would be to have something that is always shown (maybe have this as an option to disable for those who don't want it). Where you can either press the + or the - to change the volume levels. I believe this would be much safer than the current method of pushing the black area, and trying to slide the bar. My idea, allows you to do single increments much easier.
I'm terrible at photoshop, but I've attached what I'm thinking.
Also on a related note, I don't like how currently if you are in an app and you try and change the volume. It takes you out of the app, and back to the OpenAuto screen. I think it would be better/safer if whatever program you are using stays in focus after the volume change.
@Chrisfromwa, thank you for your suggestions. We considered to add "always visible" audio and brightness control but it looks like they will "consume" too much screen surface in order to be safely operational during the driving. OpenAuto Pro also support hot keys to control brightness and the volume levels and we believe this is the safest solution for adjustment of volume/brightness during driving.

Buttons/Knobs etc doesn't work for my installation in my older car.
Is there any reason why this couldn't be an option that can be enabled/disabled? For those that want to use it, and those that don't just keep it disabled?
Don't need an always available brightness, since that is something that doesn't get used much. But volume is something that is used constantly, so having it always displayed just makes sense. My example, woudldn't take up much space at all on a 7 inch screen. And if it's something that someone doesn't want, they just disable it in the settings.
In my case, I'd like an option for audio level to show only when a volume keypress is detected, just like it does in normal cars/TVs/any device that has volume adjustments.
When you press the button, it shows the current volume level so you know where it's at, and after a 2-3 seconds of not pressing a button, the volume bar disappears. This would give you best of both worlds.
This would not be adeqauate for @Chrisfromwa, but for those of us that have hotkeys for volume control (I use my SWC), it'd be perfect.
@Hisma and @Chrisfromwa we can introduce volume level indication as notification visible for define time as described by Hisma. However this will be not visible in AA as this is projection of external application. Would this solution be interesting for you?
@Tylerewithane we have this feature at our list, but there is a loot of work to do. So far no information about release date.
@bluewave I would certainly appreciate that addition. Most ideal obviously would be something that could be visible inside of AA as well, but I understand the limitations due to screen projection. Though I will say I manage to get my backup cam to show up as a layer on top of AA, which I think is a function of setting the omx layer to 1 (I think).
Anyway, I would be happy to have volume showing just outside of AA, because I plan to set up my hotkeys to allow to easily navigate between AA and OAP so I can switch between kodi & AA while driving.
