Hello everyone,
I have been running OpenAuto Pro for about a year now and have been very happy with it, although I have been dealing with one frustrating issue where my phone will randomly disconnect from Bluetooth. This only really occurs when I'm on a phone call, as any other time the audio is routing through the wireless Android Auto connection.
When this happens, a notification appears on the top bar that my phone has disconnected, and the call falls back to speakerphone. I am still able to interact with Android Auto when this happens. A few seconds later the connection will usually reconnect. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to reproduce the issue as it happens randomly when I'm in a call.
I initially started with the Panda adapter but have switched to this one from TP-Link (which also has a Cambridge Silicon chip) as a troubleshooting step. I have the dongle attached to the Pi through this USB hub (which I have tried replacing). Thinking the issue maybe had to do with interference, I did use an extension cable to move the dongle away from my dash and into the center console however the issue still occurs. I have "dtoverlay=disable-bt" set, thinking it was possibly caused by having two Bluetooth adapters. My OBD connection (which is also through Bluetooth) does cut out as well, although more frequently than the phone. I initially thought this was due to a loose OBD port, but it still disconnects after I fixed the port.
When I check dmesg, I do see some bluetooth messages that may be related:
This has been making it quite frusturating to make phone calls when driving, so I was hoping someone here would have some insight into what may be causing this.
Raspberry Pi Version: 4B+ 2GB
Power Supply: Power is provided by my Beocreate 4 Channel Amp which supports 12v input
Model of external sound card: Beocreate amp listed above, this UGREEN USB sound card is used for mic input
Microphone input: Yes
Bluetooth dongle: See post
Touchscreen model: This, although it seems to have changed slightly since I bought it
Android Auto version: 9.3.631434-release
Steps to reproduce: See post
Thank you!
