When I start maps in Car Play, the opening screen is zoomed out to include almost all of Los Angeles, and surrounding counties.  https://thumbnails-photos.amazon.com/v1/...768%2C1326

On my phone, maps opens in a much smaller coverage area with about a 20 block radius.  Is there a way I can have the OAP maps opening screen with a smaller coverage area like my phone?  Hope that all makes sense?

It should be matter of your Iphone. You would have to play with CarPlay settings.

Hmm, CarPlay settings? The phone has very limited CarPlay settings, basically only what app you want to see and which to delete. Nothing having to do with how an app behaves under CarPlay. So unless there is another way to configure Maps under CarPlay on the iPhone, that's a bust.

The settings menu in the OAP CarPlay screen is similarly limited with nothing having to do with how an app opens or looks.

Google Maps opens fine on my setup. The other app simply labeled Maps opens to show the whole LA basin and more.

Anyone have a fix for this?

Usually navigation apps behave like that when there is no GPS signal. Check location permissions on your phone.

You are right about apps behaving like that with no GPS data, but GPS is enabled and my location shows up on the map with a blue dot where it's supposed to, just from an altitude of about 4,000 feet, lol. Not a big deal, but wish I could change it.
