PorschePi
Hey everyone, I've recently finished my own OAP project for my classic Porsche. I've documented the process and wrote some documentation for anyone interested in doing the same.
In short, the goal was to create a single DIN head unit which fits in the rather restricted dashboard of classic Porsches without the need for any drilling, cutting or soldering, all the while making it look as OEM as possible. The results is a RPi 3 sandwiched between a Waveshare LCD controller and a Bang & Olufsen Hifiberry soundcard, with a graceful shutdown mechanism, powered USB hub, all fitted inside a removable single din unit.
Key Features
- 7.9" Touchscreen
- Bang & Olufsen amplifier w/ 4 channel output
- Bluetooth remote for quick Play/Pause, Skip, Volume control
- Wireless CarPlay w/ Siri supported
- Graceful shutdown w/ screen+audio blackout during 5 minute grace period
- Porsche boot screen
- Porsche logo in CarPlay interface
- Modern Porsche colored OAP interface (Black, Grey, Red)
Huge thanks to everyone in this community! Keep posting and sharing your projects and knowledge, many of you will never know how much you've helped me. Post your projects, submit your solutions, pay it forward!
Big thanks to the BlueWave staff for the support they provide in the forums, it makes a huge difference, I hope you guys know it. Thank you to 765GHF for his detailed post and script to implement a graceful shutdown.
I will try my best to reply here to questions, but if not, don't hesitate to submit issues on the repo
