Hello, and thank you in advance.

I have a carpihat and would like to use it with a bmw E60 I drive controller like many have here already. I have very little linux experience but have been running openauto for a couple years successfully. What i don't understand is how to set up controller services. I see they've provided the code to make the controller work but I can't seem to figure out where I am supposed to put it. From other forum posts it appears to belong in the controller_service.ini file which I can't seem to find. I did do an update recently and the only controller_service I can find has the paper aeroplane logo on it and I don't know how to edit it (if this is the right thing to edit)

I apologize for asking such a basic question, but I'm stumped. Sad

    Hi,

    sudo nano /home/pi/.openauto/config/openauto_controller_service.ini
That's where you set it up Smile

Thank you for the help. When I put that command into terminal it did open the document, edit it and save successfully. What is confusing me is that I can't find this "file" in file explorer. I do have another file in the folder labeled "openauto_update_package" that is called "controller_service" but the path is different and I am unable to open that one in terminal. I know this is probably a very basic question but I'm trying to learn as I go so I understand how everything works.

Once again thank you. I have read all the documentation on the forum many times and just don't understand enough to make sense of it all.

Notice the "dot", ".", before the ".openauto" folder. This means this folder is hidden in any GUI (like, in your file explorer). So you need to enable showing hidden files (don't know if that's possible on raspbian's file explorer), and then enter the hidden ".openauto" folder. Then, you'll find your file.

Thank you! I had no idea the . indicated the hidden folder which makes a lot more sense.
