Beta version OpenAuto Pro 3.3.2 is available
#61
Hi,
I made rpi-update to pull latest fixes for screen drivers, but after that Open Auto doesn't start. There is only splash screen, but I can connect via SSH... Can you help a little?

Looks like fix from RPi Foundation is still not ready. Just re-flash your sd-card and hold on with RPI firmware update.

You can also give a try with this hint:

Moving my thread to this one as I think it's related to the beta release. Using RPI4 and 3.3.2 beta 2 I did a little testing and using the image on first boot the system boots very slowly, OAP loading screen is shown and resolution over composite is still not working out of the box.

After updating to 4.19.60-v7l+ ce2a9f85a6fd88f8c42ef54b7bad99b42e76e403
(via command rpi-update [hash]) it boots fine, OAP UI starts fine, resolution is not working. Actual resolution of the desktop and OAP is stuck at 1152 x 864, TV screen only showing about 1/4th of the UI.

Code:
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 320 x 200, current 1152 x 864, maximum 7680 x 7680
Composite-1 connected primary 1152x864+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 0mm x 0mm
   1368x768      59.88
   1360x768      59.80
   1280x800      59.81
   1152x864      60.00*
   1280x720      59.86
   1024x768      60.00
   1024x576      59.90
   960x540       59.63
   800x600       60.32
   800x450       59.82
   700x450       59.88
   640x480       59.94
   684x384       59.88    59.85
   680x384       59.80    59.96
   640x400       59.88    59.98
   576x432       60.06
   640x360       59.86    59.83
   512x384       60.00
   512x288       60.00    59.92
   480x270       59.63    59.82
   400x300       60.32
   320x240       60.05

root@raspberrypi:/home/pi# tvservice  -s
state 0x80000 [PAL 4:3], 720x576 @ 50.00Hz, interlaced

root@raspberrypi:/home/pi# grep -v ^# /boot/config.txt

overscan_left=-16
overscan_right=0
overscan_top=-16
overscan_bottom=-16

overscan_scale=1
framebuffer_width=800
framebuffer_height=480

hdmi_ignore_hotplug=1

sdtv_mode=2
enable_tvout=1

dtparam=i2c_arm=on
dtparam=spi=on

dtparam=audio=off
disable_splash=1

[pi4]
dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
max_framebuffers=2

[all]
dtoverlay=vc4-fkms-v3d
max_framebuffers=2
gpu_mem=256
enable_uart=1

However by adding the following seemingly unrelated config to config.txt the resolution is set correctly:

Code:
hdmi_group=2
hdmi_mode=85

Code:
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 800 x 480, current 800 x 480, maximum 800 x 480
default connected 800x480+0+0 0mm x 0mm
  800x480        0.00*

Hope this helps

Please take note that the hdmi_mode will likely vary for each user based on the hardware (e.i., monitor, screen, TV, etc), the above mode may or may not work for everyone the same way.

Backup camera software issue
I have installed a pi fisheye camera on hdmi cable to my pi 3b+. I tested it in a direct hookup and then tested again after installation in my truck. It works well ... almost. When OAP 3.3.2b is engaged, both the reverse camera button sequence and putting truck into reverse (backup light feeds to relay which engages pi on gpio 23) works well. But, when I plug in my phone to engage android auto through OAP, the camera does not work. The software does engage the routine as the warning message and marker appears but no video. When disengaged, the screen returns but locks up ... no input can be done.

Is it possible to install OpenAuto on a RPi4 without having OpenAuto-Pro? or is there still a wait for this?

Still I didn't moved to another version of Open Auto, but maybe I should?

After performing sudo rpi-update system starts with vc4-fkms-v3d and possibly overscam settings displaying with analog output. And what I observed, OA screen is oversized, looks like using HD resolution, but AA works fine fitting into screen. Touch layer also fits in overscam so I can fully control OA by pressing the screen as i remember interface positioning. Only video in OA does not fit into overscam.
