I have a shortcut to shutdown command on the raspbian desktop already but when I added this to applications in OA all it does is just exiting from OA. Any idea how to make this?

You should be able to use a bash script!
Create a text file with the code below, somewhere in your home folder with the .sh extension, I have a sub folder named Apps for stuff like this.
I tested it with a file name shutdown-pi.sh
#!/bin/bash
sudo poweroff
make it executable with chmod +x shutdown-pi.sh
Then in openauto_applications.ini add this to the bottom of the file, replace "X" with the required number.

Thanks!
theres a small bit missed out of one line, in the file open auto config ini, it should say IconPath=/home/pi/.openauto/icons/icon_power.png but the .openauto is missing so add that and it should work, you may need to change the png name in that line to match what ever you named the png in the icons folder, here is what mine looks like after.
