<t>why not have a usb flash option? many of us have permanent car installations that require taking the car apart to access. I can get OTA updates not being a thing, but I can't see why it wouldnt' be hard to have an option that copies an image from a usb thumb drive plugged into the pi (I have a usb hub connected to my pi that is easily accessed, as I'm sure many others do), and flashes the updates that way. <br/>
Again, I came from crankshaft, so I use that as a frame of reference. On bootup the system checks for USB with an image file, and if it's an updated version, auto-flashes the image (similar to your script you described I would assume). <br/>
Hopefully that functionality can be added (or maintained if it already exists). I would think many users would request this. If not then they aren't actually using openauto in their car.</t>
