I thought I'd share my ongoing project. It is a 1974 Chevy Nova that I just finished swapping a supercharged LT4 into. The stock instrument cluster was... Not very informative. A few dummy lights, a speedometer that never worked, and a fuel level indicator.
So I used OpenAuto to create a fully digital dash using a cheap ultrawide LCD that fits perfectly in the location of the former cluster. I am still working out the graceful startup and shutdown of the pi, but the rest of it is very functional. I'm looking to add a few more PIDs to the dashboard (oil temp, oil pressure, trans temp), as well as hey it to boot directly into a specific dashboard. Also looking to get l fix the aspect ratio, as my resolution is 1280x390, and OpenAuto seems to be rendering the gauges slightly off due to it.
But anyway, here's a short video of the car and the dash as it currently sits.
