Edit Reason: pictures not working
)
Hi!
Just want to show one of my OAP projects.
I removed the 5 "4: 3 OEM screen to fit a 5.5" 16: 9 screen because I did not find one in as well as format and size.
At this time, OEM display data is disabled. My goal is to convert the original VGA signal to HDMi and use an HDMI module to Pi.
Unfortunately, the VGA to HDMI adapter did not work at all so I have to find something else later.
The Pi 4 4Gb is mounted just behind the display.
I have unfortunately no skills in programming and didn't find any script for turning on and off the backlight when the ignition is switched on. I therefore added a relay that switch of the the backlight when the ignition is off.
I put an extension of the micro SD card and mounted it on a hinge suspended bracket above the cassette player so that when there is a cassette in the player you can access the SD card through the cassette lid.
I have tested several DC-DC buck converters and all had the same problem. -They all delivered too low voltage for Pi.
Tired of it and the bread board with relays I previously made for the graceful shutdown that didn't look so funny.
I therefore designed my own DC-DC converter and. I added an RTC and inputs for temp & light sensor, ignition and camera. Also added an input that takes power from the interior lights, this starts Pi immediately when I unlock the car with the remote control.
I also added a relay to automatic switch on and off the aftermarket DRL that I am going to install. This is controlled by the day/night function.
I used the script from this thread for that.
The home made power supply works great! Newer got a problem since it was made and installed.
Later I will clean up the installation. My custom power supply is normally connected with the multi colored flat cable to Pi, but needed to be disconnected for taking this photo.
I uses Android Auto in wireless mode and it starts every time like it's an OEM feature off the car!
I use the graceful delay shut down script from this thread but i don't use any extra timer. The Pi shuts off 35 min after ignition was powered off. I made an own circuit thats allow power for approximately 10 seconds after the Pi has turned off by the script. I used 1 relay for this to be 100% sure that there are zero consumption then Pi is off.
If someone reads this and will share a script that can turn on the OAP splash screen for approximately 2 seconds every time the ign pin is high I would be very pleased. That feature would give the installation a more OEM feeling!
