Oh yeah, don't buy the JOIOT SSD.  Pi won't boot to it.

Hi,

i think the Pi 4 can only boot from nvme. The transfer Rate of 500MB/sec sounds a lot like SATA, NVMe is not limited to 500MB/sec so anything with higher transfer rates should be NVMe.
It would be better to buy a USB3.1 to NVMe-case and a M.2 NVMe for it - just to be sure. But there is still the possibility of an incompatible chipset of the adapter.

That's the one I got and it seems to be working pretty good.  Much better than the SD card I had.

Yeah, booting fine - I have other issues related to this change - like the directory link to a save logs to a 16gb USB stick got broken, the app no longer has write permission - but I think this is only an issue with my setup.
