Log file is located at /home/pi/.openauto/cache/openauto.log location. It was mentioned in previous post. Lack of volume control means that your sound card has not been detected properly by the Raspberry PI OS/PulseAudio which may lead to problems with Android Auto.

According to logs your phone is not detected by the Raspberry PI USB bus. Please try to use another cable and set transferring files mode as default one on your phone.
tried with a brand new cable that i purchased a few days ago, same result according to logs, mode has been set to transferring files since you recommended it earlier.
i have tried 4 cables so far, all same result. Suh Dude.

The phone is not visible for the Raspberry PI USB bus. Phone itself prevents communication via USB bus. We suggest to contact the manufacturer and ask how to make your phone discoverable via USB by other devices.

actually i just discovered it won't pick up in windows either so yeah i guess i have some figuring out to do with my phone.
Suh Dude.
i got it to connect via BT/Wi-Fi, when i make it to the android auto screen, i see the options
"Resume", and "Day/Night" when i click resume, nothing happens. I have a notification saying "Looking for android auto" on my phone https://pastebin.com/TzQLHM7N all in all, i'd rather have wireless working over wired anyways for when it's in the vehicle Suh Dude.
