OAP startup speed
#1
Hello all,

So I have seen others speak about enhancing the startup speed of the application. I attempted solutions found here like adding more swap memory, but really didn't notice a large increase in speed. I edited swap config files:

"
STOP THE SWAP
sudo dphys-swapfile swapoff

MODIFY THE SIZE OF THE SWAP
As

Code:
root
, edit the file
Code:
/etc/dphys-swapfile
 and modify the variable
Code:
CONF_SWAPSIZE
:
CONF_SWAPSIZE=1024
To modify the swap file, edit the variable

Code:
CONF_SWAPFILE
, and run
Code:
dphys-swapfile setup
which will create and initialize the file.
START THE SWAP
sudo dphys-swapfile swapon

"

Using this strategy I even tried 5gb worth of worth swap storage and still I'm starting up around 40 seconds.

Did you try the USB SSD with the Rpi 4? I've heard that the beta boot loader that support USB Boot works is good enough for daily usage. RPI4 now support USB Attached SCSI (UAS) over USB 3.0 boosting IOPS by a lot compared to RPI3.

Honestly, I'm fine with ~25 secs with a SanDisk High Endurance SD card (Stock OAP 9.1 image). My previous android 8.0 radio (PX5,4gb ram,32gb eMMC) when booting from cold state could take 1 minute easily.
Setup info for troubleshooting:
- Board: RPi 4B with OAP 9.1
- Supply: Official RPi
- Display: 9" 1280x720 IPS/High brightness -> AUO C090EAN01.1
- Touch: GOODIX GT911 over USB
- Sound: HIFIBERRY DAC+ ADC
- Mic: USB Mic
- Bluetooth: CSR8510
- Phone: S8 Active with Android 9.0
- AA v5.4
