If you're still making these I would be interested in one. Seems to incorporate almost all of the main features perfectly.

They are sold through the below link. I am hoping to have some more in stock in the next week or so. https://www.tindie.com/products/tjd/carp...rface-pcb/ Cheers

Nice job. It took a collection of several breakout modules and a custom carrier board for me to get close to the same features. The only thing I see missing from your board are a couple analog inputs for resistive steering wheel controls but I suppose the % of users that need it probably does not warrant the extra cost/real estate. I used a pro micro to provide steering wheel control support, manage power to pi, amp/display, and a gps module. I also used one of analog inputs to add low voltage cutoff and another for an analog light sensor and have plans for pwm backlight control. Once my project moves from the bench to my Tacoma I will post a detailed set of instructions for each function here in the "your projects" section

Yes that is something that I debated on adding, but since there are so many different requirements, it would be hard to come up with a "catch all" solution. There are some free pins, so you could always stack a protoHAT with the required voltage divider if you really wanted them.

Hi!
First of all, I'm super excited to see your build, since I also own a SG Forester, although "just" 2006 2.0 NA. That pre-lift STi is so cool! Could you provide some details on installation in the OEM dash pod? I haven't ordered my dash pod yet, but looking at the pictures it looks like it would be a tight fit with official 7 inch screen. Did you have to make any modifications to pod or/and screen? Seems like it's sitting quite low too, would be nicer if it was more centered vertivally, but I guess the screen size is preventing this, right? If you happen to have any pictures showing the fit inside the pod I'd be more than happy to see them. You have mentioned brackets melting in the sun, did you see any negative effects of high temperature on your hardware? It'd be under direct sunlight most of the time during sunny days, so I was wondering if it could damage something in the long run. Was even thinking of moving Raspberry and all the rest down, near the stock head unit, to prevent it from getting too hot. I'm also impressed by this BMW controls integration and rear camera, both look quite stock. Would you be willing to share 3D models of screen mounting brackets and camera mount? I am planning to do measurements myself, but it would be nice to have some point of reference. Honestly all this looks great, awesome job!

i'm interested in one of those HATs, i was literally about to dump a bunch of money into stuff to build something similair but it wouldn't be the same form factor
Suh Dude.

Hi gecko242,
love the car and the OAP install looks super slick. I have been looking for a backup camera mount solution for a while now and yours is the best I have seen. small discreet and water tight . Any chance of getting the 3d model / stl file for it. happy to pay a bit for it.

I threw my name on the list for when the hats are avail again.. great work!
These brackets are what i have been trying to imagine for my build, really digging all the thought and effort you put into this setup. (01-23-2021, 02:16 AM)czajka Wrote: Hi! Hey, Sorry its taken me a while to reply! Awesome! Any SG is still cool Its a tight fit, but an official 7in screen fits perfectly. It is only sitting low as the first brackets I printed softened in the sun. Its now running PETG brackets that have not warped at all, and is correctly centered in the middle of the cutout. As for the heat, I would probably run a fan if I lived anywhere hotter than the UK! Potentially yes, althought they are quite specifc to my setup. How should I best get them to you? Cheers! Cheers, Sam

thanks for the reply Sam,
yes that is a bit of an issue. sounds like i will need to design my own then. Can't be that hard he says never having 3d printed anything. if i goes well i will share with everyone. |
