Hey there!
I'm trying my hand at building this thing.
Here are the parts I am using:
- Raspberry Pi 4 - 4GB model
- This (unofficial) touch screen here: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07Y...00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
- Lexus is200 as my car
- The (currently) empty Double Din slot in my dashboard
To be ordered:
- HifiBerry RCA HAT
- Alpine MRV-F300 (I cant use the OEM amp which means a whole lot of cabling of the speakers, if you have suggestions on how I could save myself a whole lot of cabling, by all means let me know!)
- 12v to 5v converter (using the accessory wire from the cigarrette lighter)
- 16 gauge speaker wire to wire up my speakers to the Alpine
- 2 x RCA cables to go from the HAT to the Alpine Amp.
- USB microphone (currently am 'fooling' OpenAuto by using dummy drivers... I think... See this link: https://superuser.com/questions/344760/h...723#700723)
- USB type A to Micro B for my phone connectivity.
The current hurdle I am facing right now is the fact that I cant even think of/find a way to install the rPi and screen into the double din unit in my car. I have the darkest feeling that I will need to get a new display, but am very wary of the fact that the "official" rPi display is very low resolution and has very big bezzels making it not look very attractive in my car... If you have suggestions let me know.
Once I am past this one I think the next biggest issue I'll face is the fact that I need to bypass the stock, OEM amp, somehow run fresh new speaker cable to the boot of the car (where I'll probably keep my new amp, although I'm thinking maybe I can chuck it in the glove box) and then also run RCA cables and power cables to it.
I appreciate any help!
Cheers.
