Audio USB-Card microphone no input

I am using  an Audio USB-Card with my Raspberry Pi 3B+. It works fine for playing audio from music streamed from my phone but as soon as I try to use the Phone feature in OpenAuto to call somebody the microphone I plugged in the microphone jack seems not to be getting a signal. I can however confirm the that the microhone works as I can see a signal when testing via the Raspberry system tools.  Is there a certain configuation in the OpenAuto settings menus to ensure that the existing microphone jack will be used to stream the signal back to the phone? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

What phone do you use? Does the microphone work with Android Auto assistant? Do you have any other audio device connected to the Raspberry PI? What Bluetooth Dongle do you use? It is important because dongles based on Broadcom chip have problems with routing microphone audio to the phone.

Thanks for the quick response. I am using a Moto G5 and have added a USB bluetooth adapter from Plugable (https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B009ZIILLI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_image_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I have connected a mic and earphones to the audio USB-Card for testing. I can hear my voice being correctly passed through to the earphone while making a call via OpenAuto. The problem is that the signal is not passed to the phone connection. I also cannot hear what the caller is saying either.  I assume you mean the "Android Auto" feature in OpenAuto? I have not tested yet but will try to asap next if that helps your further diagnose.

According to below information, looks like your adapter is based on the Broadcom chip.

That expalains audio problems. Broadcom chips have broken HCI routing for HFP profile. For the same reason Raspberry PI's built-in adapter is unusable. We suggest to return mentioned dongle and buy any based on the CSR 4.0 (Camridge Silicon Radio) or higher chip.

Hey ktb,

I just found a "BCM20702A1-0a5c-21e8.hcd" (but not from the windows link you posted as I was not able to find anything with this spicific file name!) and placed it into the mentioned folder. And it works! Thank yous much for this tip! 
I'm however wondering if I really have the latest firmware as when I redo the dmesg command I get a different output not really matching the file I copied:
