Hi guys,
Recently I bought a couple of Bluetooth dongles for my rpi4 (picture provided)
I tested them with the same procedure:
Power off > insert dongle > update and upgrade > connected my phone to it > play some music over a2dp
All dongles are giving me distorting sounds when playing music
(I am aware that a CSR based dongle is mandory, the onboard Bluetooth is disabled (as it is default))
1st dongle: Asus bt400 : based on Broadcom chipset, works out of the box, no problems connecting, sound is somewhat distorting but is kinda acceptable, has a approximate range of 7 meters before stuttering appears.
2nd dongle: ADJ : based on Broadcom chipset: works out of the box, no problem connecting, sound is very distorting and has a very bad range of approximately 1.5 meters max.
3rd and 4rd dongle: KOGA : based on CSR chipset: This one does not even work properly, when plugged in the Bluetooth icon does appear but I'm not able to find any Bluetooth devices around me, also when I put it in discovery mode my phone and laptop doesn't see the dongle or rpi. If I type the command 'lsusb' in terminal it does recognize it as a CSR dongle. When I try put scanning on using 'bluetoothctl' it gives me "no default controller bluetooth device".
Anyway I tried enabling the onboard Bluetooth by putting a # before /boot/Config.txt. And It works almost as the 1st dongle, just some slight distortion.
If I connect to android auto using USB or Wifi the sound quality is amazing thanks to the Allo Boss DAC.
Is there someone that can provide me a solution or a link to a Bluetooth dongle that does not distort.
