[SOLVED] AA running slow - moenon - 03-23-2019

Hello,

I'm setting up a head unit with openauto pro and I'm experiencing extremely slow Android auto performance, to the point that navigation is useless (turn indications come waaay past the turn has been taken) and music control is quite laggy too.

I did little to no modifications to the base system (just updated with aptitude update/upgrade and installed a couple of packages with no extra running services), so I'm wondering if the phone could be too slow to give a smooth output.

Any ideas?

HW list

RPI b 3+

Official 7" touch lcd

USB microphone

USB dac (in due time will be substituted with an i2s one)

Phone: OnePlus one with custom ROM (AA runs well on itself)

Power supply: dual 2.4A (no lightning icon when AA is lagging)

Hello,

Basically Android Auto head unit is just a projection device. Everything regarding applications (maps, music), navigation and any other interface stuff is done onto phone. Android Auto process is really high resource consuming so phone performance really matters. You can try to kill some background applications or do a factory reset - that should speed-up your phone.

Thanks, it's what I needed to know.

It seems my phone tends to sleep too aggressively, so i changed something with Doze and some kernel settings. It already seems better but I didn't test on the road. Worst case scenario, I'll try a leaner rom. Thanks again

UPDATE Moving back to a 7.1.2 based rom solved the issue
