Steering Wheel Control - budman1758 - 09-01-2022

A while back I picked up one of these steering wheel control setups. It uses a 2 wire output setup to connect to "any" car stereo to control it. Wondering if its possible to make this work on my setup using the controller service.

Has anybody done this? Doesn't seem like an impossible task. Does anyone know the communication protocol used for "any" control input to car stereo? Must be some sort of serial connection. I2C maybe?

Any pointers would be super helpful.  Thanks.

Did you check this https://bluewavestudio.io/community/thread-2208.html? It is already supported via ADS11x5.

Hello. Just getting back to attempting to make this work. I hooked up my multimeter to the outputs on this controller box. The 2 output lines put out a voltage and or a resistance when you press any of the buttons but the resistance and voltage is exactly the same for any button press. Cracked the module open and after some googling I'm pretty sure this thing puts out either a different PWM signal or a serial output for the button presses. I don't think that the ADS1115 will work for this. (not positive on that).

Anybody have any experience with this?

Control box has 4 wires and an antenna wire They are power, ground and "key1" and "key 2". Instructions call these "direction control lines". Also says if there is only one line coming out of the head unit to connect them together.

EDIT:  Hooked up an ADC and the module sends a signal but it is the exact same signal (voltage) for any of the 10 buttons. Scratch the ADC...

Hooked it up to a serial console. Tried every baud rate I could find and either get nothing or nothing but garbage.

Things are not looking good here. Anybody have an idea?
