FM Radio in OpenAuto Pro - jmvaca - 10-11-2021

My car stereo broke down some time ago, and I thought this would be a cool project to 'replace' it.
However, I can't find any docs on how to use FM Radio in OpenAuto Pro.
My idea would be to use the original antenna in the car.

Is there any way to do this? Please note, I still have not purchased OpenAuto Pro.

So currently there is no built in solution for FM radio in OAP. Maybe someday Bluewave will develop something, but it's been a few years and they haven't shown much interest.

But there is something you can do now.
Take a look at this thread.

It took me awhile, but I finally got this version of it to work

Depending on your screen size, you'll need to mess around with the code to get it to all display correctly. At least I did, but it all works with RDS support. I then purchased an adapter to go from the SDR dongle to my car antenna in my Toyota.

I have had it in the car for a few months, and it actually works really well. Every channel that I listened too before OAP, I can still listen too now.
CPU usage doesn't seem to be an issue (Pi 4).

Thanks, @Chrisfromwa.

I'll take a look at this and see. Thanks for the quick reply.

@Chrisfromwa,
could you provide a link to USB FM dongle you used?

Thanks again.

This was the one I bought.
https://www.amazon.com/NESDR-v4-RTL-SDR-Essentials-Kit/dp/B07W3XQKXV/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8

it came with a bunch of stuff I really didn't need, so if I were to buy it again, would buy just the dongle by itself and save some money.

and here is the adapter I used to connect to the factory antenna in my car. Not sure if it will work in ever car, but gives you an idea

Thanks, I will look into it.

I think my car has an antenna like this:

so it should work.
