Google Assistent - b3nny - 04-09-2021

Hi, when i am wireless connected to my OAP, i can' fast forward music via voice commands. Google Assistent tells me that it's not understanding me. I am using a stereo mic and Raspberry Pi 4 with 5 Ghz Network and the OAP 12. If i speak into my phone, it works. Any idea how to fix that?

Also Fast forward/rewind command may not be supported by Android Auto if you are using it in country that is officialy not supported. We suggest to contact Android Auto support as it is an issue strictly related to Android Auto/Google Assistant.

There is no difference for the OpenAuto Pro whether Android Auto is connected via USB or via WiFi. Most probably your phone does not have internet access when it is using wireless network for Android Auto purposes (Google Assistant may require internet access for more advanced commands). Try to enable mobile data usage when your phone is connected to the WiFi network without internet access. It should be done automatically but some phones have problem with that setting, especially Samsung devices.

I am using my Pixel 2 and i can start radio streams, Amazon Music or ask for weather forcast. But i am not able to skip 5 minuets of the current track, which i am able to if i am connected via usb.

Turn off mobile data when using USB and check if it behaves the same.

No internet at all is a completly differnt situation. I gues its related to bluetooth because if i am connected via usb, i can turn off bluetooth and play music and control it. If i am wireless connected, music is streamed via bluetooth and android auto via wifi.

Now its not working on USB as well so at least it is not releated to the type of connection :-) I found this issue but no solution yet.

Any voice commands require speech recognition to work. By my understanding this is handled "in the cloud". So you have to have an Internet connection on your phone for the Google Assistant to work. With Wireless Android Auto you have your phone connected to the OAP WiFi hotspot which doesn't provide an Internet connection. Different phones handle this differently - some prioritize the WiFi connection completely and if there's no Internet on it, then the phone doesn't switch to a different Internet connection (i.e. mobile data). Others just notify you that this WiFi network doesn't have Internet connectivity and mobile data is to be used for that, so everything works seamlessly.

So my best guess is that your phone is one of those that doesn't have an automatic switchover for the Internet connection and prioritizes the WiFi network above all others. I'd try and find a setting for that, so the phone can be connected to the OAP hotspot, but use the mobile data connection for Internet connectivity. Then the voice recognition should work without problems.

Today i updated to Version 13 and now its working again. I can fast forward musik 1 or 3 or whatever minutes, play and pause it. Its was strange because i could talk with google, asking for weather or start navigation. Only musik control stoped working. Anyway, now everthing is working like before. Thanks for your help, again!
