AA day / night control - controlled by phone - 765GHF - 10-17-2020

Hi

I want my phone to control Day / Night mode in AA (when it's running under OAP). I have followed the instructions in the post - https://bluewavestudio.io/community/showthread.php?tid=1586&highlight=android+auto+day+night however it seems that the Day / Night setting in AA on the phone is ignored.

Like in the original post If I set the phone Day / Night setting to Night then AA on OAP displays in day mode.

Pixel 3
Android 11
OAP v11

Phone settings - AA - Developer Settings - Day / Night - set to phone controlled
OAP settings - Day / Night - Android Auto - set to Manual and Default Android Auto Mode is set to None.

Any thoughts / ideas?

TIA

We tried reproduce the issue on all our reference phones (including Pixel 2XL with Android 11) but no luck. Did you try to simply reinstall Android Auto application? Does your phone has day or night theme forced?

Thanks for the reply.

On the Pixel 3 running Android 11 it's not possible to completely uninstall AA but you can uninstall updates which I did (the version went back to 5.3.801654). This made no difference.

The phone currently has night theme forced (however AA displays in day mode on OAP).

I also tried on a Pixel running a fresh install of Lineage OS 17 (Android 10) and got the same results.

Looks like it is common issue related to the Android Auto application itself. Did you try to contact Google support?

Thanks for the reply and the links.

After some googling of my own I found that the only way I can get get my phone controlling day / night mode when AA is displayed on OAP is to toggle dark theme on the phone - https://www.reddit.com/r/AndroidAuto/comments/imcp8a/android_auto_daynight_mode

This could be automated for sunset / sunrise by using tasker - https://www.reddit.com/r/tasker/comments/d9j8b8/dev_tasker_585_dark_mode_rolling_out_for_everyone/

I found that if I go into the Developer Settings for the Android Auto app that I can specify that I want the phone to be in control of Day/Night mode and its been working like a charm after I specified that it was Phone-controlled
