Use existing headunit? - costa - 06-29-2020 Hi, I just installed a RPI and a touchscreen in my 1st car, and that seems to work perfectly. In my other car I already have a Pioneer 2-din touchscreen with an Galaxy S8 connected to the headunit through HDMI and running Ar unchained ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mars.area51.arunchainednr&hl=da), so I can mirror the phone, and control it with the headunits touchscreen which as such is working ok, but far from perfect. Would I be able to connect a RPI with OAP and connect it to my headunit through HDMI, and control OAP from there somehow? RE: Use existing headunit? - peetereczek - 06-29-2020 Hello, You can connect PI over HDMI to you Pioneer so will have the picture and sound, but you won't have touch control. To control OA you will need some additional keyboard / remote control RE: Use existing headunit? - costa - 06-29-2020 Ah damn, so I guess I need some special software on RPI that through the bluetooth connection can capture the touchscreen touches from the headunit? RE: Use existing headunit? - BlueWave - 06-29-2020 OpenAuto Pro and Android Auto can be controlled by key strokes. You do not need touchscreen. RE: Use existing headunit? - costa - 06-29-2020 I don't want to control the headunit with a keyboard while driving. My Pioneer headunit SPH-DA120 already have touchscreen, so I hoped I could connect the RPI to it, and then go to Appradio/screenmirror mode or something on the headunit and get it to work, without buying a new a RPI Touchscreen. With my implementation of project, I used original car head unit as a video and sound player, but I had to add additional touch layer as I didn't wanted to control only with the buttons. I don't see any other way. RE: Use existing headunit? - costa - 07-01-2020 Are you still happy with the touch layer, or is just an ok solution? Is ok, sometines gets a lag or lose calibration |
