Audio loudness from zero to first "step" - eruji - 01-30-2020

When i adjust the audio volume level zero is no audio, but the next step up is a big jump. I have my pi connected to my amp directly so no attenuation knob (yet) i verified the audio step size is set to 1 in the settings. Is there anything else i can do to adjust this?

to be fair its not like is over bearing loud but during conversations while driving its hard to speak to someone at vol level 1

Thanks

How it behaves when you connect regular speakers or headphones to the sound card?

it also happens to me with this sound card: https://www.amazon.it/dp/B07CYPM1ZY/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_yT1mEb7SD69G3

Connected to this amplifier with front and rear: https://www.amazon.it/dp/B07S1ZJLJM/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_CY1mEbQ3F6T1G

Currently it looks like your amplifier starts using maximum power once it received any audio signal from the PI. How it behaves with headphones or regular speakers? Please double check configuration of your amplifier.

Also please try to edit /home/pi/.config/pulse/default.pa file, find

ignore_dB=1

remove it and restart the PI.

Sorry, difficult to test things out when everything is tied up in the dashboard. I did not test using regular headphones but i did remove the "ignore_dB=1" statement in that file and it does not seem to make any difference (with reboot)

To further clarify: move vol slider all the way to the left. its actually 2 clicks up to get any sound. So the first two steps are silent.

Ive overcome this issue with a vol attenuation knob between the pi and the amp but that seems to be introducing noise on its own (not an OAP issue) but im curious if any of you have noticed the same. Im using this guy: https://www.amazon.com/PAC-LC-1-Remote-Amplifier-Controller/dp/B0002J226O/ref=pd_cp_107_1/140-4121618-8923527?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B0002J226O&pd_rd_r=44bb4c7a-e4c8-4fba-ba06-97c5900f6397&pd_rd_w=rq5Q3&pd_rd_wg=BDPrC&pf_rd_p=e44de6bb-cc27-4696-9c22-3a1bddefabbd&pf_rd_r=JVV5DR7924X8FNTN48WT&psc=1&refRID=JVV5DR7924X8FNTN48WT

and it picks up some electrical noise until its on full volume.

Not sure if this is related but I restored my pulse default.pa file and now when I launch AA it crashes whenever I attempt to play anything via Spotify or Pandora. See this video. https://youtu.be/YQurY2GOXjw

Any ideas?

Also, audio playback seems to work fine in Bluetooth more
