Is this USB Dongle compatible? - stevens_albert - 10-14-2019

Hello

I am loving OAP so far. After reading this forum, I found out that the USB Bluetooth dongle I have been using uses a Broadcom chipset which causes issues with OAP. The one I have been using is can be found here

I have decided to buy a new one and I noticed many people recomend the Panda Bluetooth 4.0 adapter. Where I live (Mexico), the cost for this adapter is aprox. 30 usd with shipping. I want to know why this is recomended so that I can buy one similar but cheaper. If there is no other option I will buy it but I hope I can buy one for less.

I found these options and I was hoping someone with more knowledge could verify they are compatible. Link can be found here and here

Any recomendations are welcome.

Thanks in advance.

The recommendation for Panda BT comes from Users as tested solution in different countries. Nowadays there is a loot of dongles, however for most of them you cannot get any reasonable specification. In one of our test setup we use BT dongle for less than 10$ and works good. You can give a try with cheaper one. From SW engineering point of view BT implementation done by vendors is one big mess, therefore it looks like this.
Try to search for BT 4.0, not Broadcom chipset, can be dedicated for RPI.
